Fox News issued a breaking news alert as they cut from their live coverage and headed to the White House as reporters directed questions at Donald Trump. Just days ago, the president declared the “US is the world’s most powerful military country,” amid rising global tensions and the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran. The 79 year old spoke with news outlets before he departed Washington D.C. on Wednesday but immediately shut down a reporter.
He quizzed the president about reports of Iraqi parliament members shouting, “Death to America, death to Israel!” The correspondent then asked, “What is your response?”
Trump turned to the camera and said, “What did he say?” suggesting he did not understand the question. The reporter repeated himself for a second time but the president instead turned to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt for assistance. She then repeated the reporter’s question.
Issuing an abrupt response, Trump hit out arguing, “That’s not a nice question,” and walked off without answering.
In an earlier conversation with broadcasters Trump praised US military operations in Iran.
“We’re doing something that nobody ever thought was possible,” he remarked. “Our military is the best. It is the most powerful in the world, and they’re hitting them very hard.”
Trump added, “This is 47 years of abuse.”
The president went on to say the US is “not finished yet” when asked about the war in Iran and claimed the Middle East nation has “lost their air force”, “their leaders are gone” and “we could do a lot worse”.
Ambassadors from the Gulf countries have spoken to reporters ahead of a Security Council vote later on a draft resolution which demands Iran immediately cease its attacks, including through proxies, on them and Jordan.
Collectively, over the last 12 days, they say they’ve been targeted with 950 Iranian missiles and 2,500 drones, most of which have been intercepted.
