“The caption reads, ‘Thinking of my mother today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W.'”
The journalist continued: “This year would have been his mother’s 65th birthday. The photo shows a young Prince William in a field of flowers, taken at Highgrove in 1985. And on that note, may I wish all the mothers a very happy Mother’s Day – I look forward to getting back to my own home, where I am sure my beloved children will have emptied the dishwasher and tidied up for me.”
Diana sadly died when she was just 26 years old, following a car crash in Paris in 1997, which sent the world into mourning.
The beloved Princess’s sons, William and Prince Harry, were just 15 and 12 respectively when she passed away. The pair have spoken candidly over the years about their love for their mother and the pain of losing her.
The Royal Family’s official X account also shared a Mother’s Day message accompanied by a mixture of black and white photos of the late Queen Elizabeth II, which read: “Wishing Mothers everywhere, and those who might be missing their Mums today, a restful Mothering Sunday.”
