It’s official: One Born Every Minute is returning to UK TV with brand new episodes, eight years after its cancellation. The BAFTA-winning show has been commissioned for 12 new installments, which will air on E4.
Described in official materials as a “ground-breaking fixed-rig observational documentary series” that captures “raw, emotional, and sometimes unpredictable moments experienced by expectant families and the medical teams who support them”, the show initially launched in 2010 before being retired in 2018.
Now, viewers will once again be taken behind the scenes of contemporary maternity care when new episodes are filmed later in 2026.

Vivienne Molokwu, Senior Commissioning Editor for Reality & Entertainment and the Commissioning Lead for E4, said in a statement: “Nearly 10 years on, we feel very privileged to once again follow the journey that parents embark on as they welcome their babies to the world.
“We know the roller coaster of emotions that this period brings is something that will really resonate with the E4 audience, and we cannot wait for our viewers to see how the digital age has reshaped how families navigate this stage of life.”
Will Rowson, Co-Creative Director at production company Dragonfly TV, added: “There’s such affection for One Born Every Minute, and we’re thrilled to return to it.
“In the years it’s been away so much around pregnancy and maternity care has changed, making this an exciting moment to reimagine the show for an E4 audience.”

In its original run, One Born Every Minute picked up Best Factual Series at the BAFTAs and spawned multiple international adaptations, including in France, the USA, Sweden and Australia.
Elsewhere on the box, Channel 4 has also confirmed the future of its ongoing smash hit Taskmaster, which returns for its new series later this week.
The show has won a new deal that will see six more cycles being aired, plus more editions of the spin-offs New Year Treat and Champion of Champions.
Alex Horne quipped: “I’m pleased and quite stressed that I’ve got to come up with a lot more tasks for a lot more comedians but the thought of three more years in Greg’s deep embrace is soothing my little head.”
