The Easter Bank Holiday weekend, a time for family, celebration and, of course, fish and chips.
Up and down the country, the nation’s chippy’s have recorded strong Easter takings, particularly on Good Friday, a day rooted in fish and chips.
Sajan Arora, part-owner of Hexham Fish Bar, and his team started work at 8am on Good Friday. It was “stressful” and “hard work”, but overall “very good”, he said.
“I think Good Friday was the best we’ve had in the last maybe four or five years,” said Sajan Arora, part-owner of Hexham Fish Bar.
“It was good – we can’t complain. I’m very positive in general; we’re always improving year by year.
“We started on Thursday, which was very good. Saturday was the same, but nothing can really compete with Good Friday.”
On social media, The Sea Chef announced that they had a “very busy” Easter.
Hexham favourite Paxtons also reported a top Easter Weekend.
Owner Natalie Paxton posted on social media: “Another record-breaking Good Friday! Thank you, everyone.”
She also thanked her “amazing” staff.
