IIM Jammu holds Hindi workshop to boost official language use

JAMMU, Mar 26: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu today organised a daylong Hindi workshop to promote the effective use of Hindi in official and administrative work.
The programme was held under the aegis of the Official Language Office and saw active participation from faculty and staff.
The workshop was attended by Dr Vichitrasen Gupta, Deputy Director (Implementation), Regional Implementation Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language; Prof Shyam Narayan Lal; Dr Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti; and Dr Ashish Isher, Hindi Rajbhasha Adhikari, IIM Jammu.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Gupta spoke about recent provisions aimed at strengthening the use of Hindi in official functioning.
He stressed the need for adopting bilingual practices in office work, including file noting, correspondence and emails, and said that communication should be carried out in both Hindi and English.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced use of Hindi and English in administration and encouraged the use of digital tools such as Hindi Shabd Sindhu and Bahubhashi Anuvad Sarthi to improve translation and communication.
Dr Anuja Akhouri said that wider use of Hindi in institutional processes enhances efficiency and strengthens cultural connect, while Dr Ashish Isher underlined that promotion of Rajbhasha helps ensure compliance with government norms and creates an inclusive work environment.
The workshop was interactive, allowing participants to share experiences and gain practical insights.
It concluded with a vote of thanks by Vijay Anant Kamble, Administrative Officer (Projects), IIM Jammu.
The institute reiterated its commitment to promoting Hindi in official work and strengthening inclusive governance practices.
