Rachel Kay, 37, a barmaid from Preston, had flown out to the Spanish resort of Benidorm with friends and was later found unresponsive in her accommodation
A British mum-of-two has tragically been found dead in her accommodation while on holiday in Benidorm.
Rachel Kay, 37, a barmaid from Preston, had flown out to the Spanish resort with friends and was later found unresponsive on the morning of Sunday, March 29.
Her family say their “whole world has been completely shattered” following Rachel’s death. She was a popular face in Preston and worked in many of the local pubs, most recently at The Bear’s Paw.

Her sister Denise Kay told how her family have been left devastated including Rachel’s children “who adored her”. She said: “Rachel leaves behind her two young children who adored her, her partner, her twin brother who has lost his other half, and our mum and dad who are completely heartbroken. As her sister, I am struggling to find the words to even begin to explain this loss.”
Denise has set up a GoFundMe page which has raised more than £13,000 towards a target of £20,000 to bring Denise’s body back home and cover funeral costs.
She posted on the page saying: “I never imagined I would have to write something like this. We have suddenly lost my beautiful sister Rachel whilst she was on holiday in Benidorm, and our whole world has been completely shattered. She was not only my sister, but a mum, a partner, a daughter, and a twin, and the pain we are all feeling is unbearable.”
And the fundraiser adds: “Right now, all we want is to bring her home where she belongs, so she can be surrounded by her family and we can give her the goodbye she truly deserves.
“Sadly, the costs to bring her back to the UK are extremely high. Between repatriation, paperwork and funeral arrangements, it’s more than we could have ever prepared for, especially at a time like this.
“We are asking from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can give. No amount is too small and every single donation will go towards bringing Rachel home and laying her to rest.
“If you are unable to donate, please sharing this would mean everything to us. Thank you for your kindness, love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Love, Rachel’s sister and family.”
Rachel’s dad Mick posted on Facebook saying he has been overwhelmed by the support from the community, reported LancsLive.
He said: “I cannot put this it to words but the amount of support everyone is giving i can’t believe it never know anything like it, lets get Rachel Kay home the community has been amazing. This has put PROUD back it to PRESTON.”
A friend said: “Rest in eternal peace beautiful angel. My deepest condolences and sympathy goes out to your family and children at this sad time. Rachel Kay you are so so loved. Seriously. The whole of Preston as a community are doing what they all can to get you home where you belong. You would be so proud.
