Nippon Sangoku, a new post-apocalyptic military anime, has released its first episode and is already available with a Hindi dub on Prime Video.
The story is set in a near-future Japan that has collapsed after nuclear war, natural disasters, and internal corruption. The country is now divided into three rival powers, locked in constant conflict. Diplomacy has broken down, and each faction is fighting to control what remains of the nation.
At the centre is Aoteru Misumi, a low-ranking official with no strong background in politics or the military. Despite that, he wants to end the ongoing violence and bring the country back together. He relies on strategy, observation, and persuasion rather than brute force, slowly working his way into a larger role in this fractured world.
The anime is directed by Kazuaki Terasawa and written by Teruko Utsumi at Studio Kafka. It is based on the manga by Ikka Matsuki, which began serialisation on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website and the MangaONE app in November 2021.
The title itself translates to “Japan: Three Kingdoms.” It borrows the idea of divided territories from historical Three Kingdoms-style conflicts, though the story places it in a modern, ruined version of Japan.
