Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired the second special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review measures being taken across key sectors to insulate India from the impact of the ongoing West Asia conflict, asking all departments to take every possible measure to address problems of citizens.

“Chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). Reviewed the steps being taken by various Ministries and Departments in the wake of the ongoing West Asia conflict and also discussed the next set of initiatives to be taken,” Modi said in a post on X.

Cabinet secretary TV Somanathan briefed the meeting on steps taken to secure petroleum products, particularly liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG), and to ensure adequate power supply.
Sources for both LPG and LNG are being diversified, with new inflows from multiple countries.
Domestic LPG prices for consumers have remained unchanged, and anti-diversion enforcement against hoarding and black marketing is being conducted regularly, according to a PMO statement.

To maintain power availability through peak summer months, gas-based plants with a combined capacity of 7-8 GW have been exempted from the gas pooling mechanism, and additional coal rakes are being positioned at thermal power stations, the statement said.
