Pure Salmon Welcomes the Positive Opinion of the Commission of Inquiry


This major step validates the quality of the project carried out by Pure Salmon, as well as the rigor of the technical and environmental studies done over several years.

An Innovative and Responsible Industrial Project

The project aims to establish a land-based RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) salmon farm, making it possible to produce up to 10,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon per year, entirely raised, processed, and packaged in France for the local market.

This model has significant advantages:

  • Complete control of farming conditions, guaranteeing animal welfare,
  • Production without antibiotics or pesticides,
  • Extremely limited impacts on natural environments, particularly marine and wetland local environments.

In-Depth Consideration of Environmental Issues

The favorable opinion of the commission of inquiry recognizes the in-depth work carried out on the main issues of the project, in particular:

  • Preservation of water resources (especially freshwater resources),
  • Treatment of all wastes and effluents and controlled discharge into the estuary, beyond regulatory limitations, taking due consideration of the brackish estuary
  • Prevention of nuisances and risks.

The project is based on high-performance water treatment systems, allowing a recirculation rate of more than 99%, thus limiting water resources use and discharge volumes.

Structuring Economic Benefits for the Territory

This new stage of the project is an opportunity for Pure Salmon France to reaffirm its commitment to the environment and the economic development of the region. Located on a site labeled “turnkey” by the French President, the Verdon-Sur-Mer Atlantic salmon farm project represents an investment of 275 million euros, creating 250 local jobs, thus becoming one of the main economic players in the Médoc region.

A New Step Towards the Realization of the Project

Following this constructive opinion, Pure Salmon will continue the next administrative steps, obtaining the necessary permits for the launch of the project, which is planned for the 2nd half of 2026. The first commercialization is scheduled for 2030.

Pure Salmon Technology’s Role in the Project

Pure Salmon Technology is responsible for the design and dimensioning of the 10,000-tonne facility in Verdon-sur-Mer. The design covers the water treatment systems, process layout, capacities, and flow, with fish welfare as a key design principle, ensuring stable operation, efficient resource use, and consistent production conditions.
