Luminaries and distinguished voices in contemporary Hindi literature were the star attraction at Hindi Bhavan’s Dhai Aakhar Sahityotsav in the capital city on March 28, Saturday. Inaugurated by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Culture and Tourism Minister, this festival coveted literary and cultural gathering brought together Piyush Mishra, well-known actor, writer & singer, Sudhir Mishra, well-known film director, Prasoon Joshi, poet, writer & Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, Saurabh Shukla, popular actor, writer & director and Rahul Mittra, acclaimed film producer, actor & branding specialist, amongst other stars.

Conceived as a confluence of poetry, dialogue, music, cinema and theatre, the festival offered not simply a sequence of sessions but an immersive passage through the many living textures of Indian expressive tradition with it’s guiding theme ‘Virasat se Bhavishy tak’ (From Heritage to the Future) setting the tonal register at once: rooted, yet restless.

In one of the main sessions at the festival, Saurabh Shukla and Rahul Mittra along with Chitaranjan Tripathi, Director of National School of Drama, spoke at length on the evolution of Indian cinema and theatre and its contribution towards popularising and promoting the Hindi language. Saurabh Shukla and Rahul Mittra shared interesting anecdotes from their real and reel life, both of whom have played the role of judges in Jolly LLB and Haq respectively, winning the adulation of the audiences who had come out in large numbers to attend this special gathering.
