The Rising of the Shield Hero Seasons 1 and 2 are now available on Crunchyroll with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs, expanding the anime’s regional language lineup for viewers in India.
These new dubs apply to the first two seasons of the series, which follow Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary college student who is summoned to another world as one of four legendary heroes. Unlike the others, he is assigned the Shield, leaving him unable to attack and immediately putting him at a disadvantage. After being betrayed early on, Naofumi is forced to survive on his own, building strength, allies, and a reputation from scratch.
The story tracks his rise from an outcast to a key defender against waves of catastrophic threats that strike the world. Along the way, he forms close bonds with characters like Raphtalia and Filo, while continuing to deal with distrust and political conflict from the kingdom that summoned him.
The anime is based on the light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Seira Minami. It began as a web novel before being picked up for publication, later expanding into manga adaptations and an anime series.
The anime adaptation first aired in 2019, with Season 2 following in 2022. Produced by Kinema Citrus, the series has four seasons in total, with the fourth season airing last year. A fifth season has been announced.
