Tom Felton Extends Record-breaking Run In Harry Potter On Broadway

Tom Felton has extended his record-breaking run in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric Theatre in New York.

The film star, who originated the role of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise, made his Broadway debut in the stage production in November 2025. Producers announced that he will now continue in the role of Draco until Sunday, 1 November 2026.

Since Felton joined the cast, the production has seen a massive surge at the box office, consistently holding the #1 spot for Broadway grosses. The play set a new house record for the Lyric Theatre during the week ending 28 December 2025, pulling in a staggering $3.7 million over nine performances.

Felton’s casting marks the first time a member of the original film cast has joined the stage play, which follows the lives of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as adults, 19 years after the events of The Deathly Hallows.

Broadway Production Details

The current New York cast is led by John Skelley as Harry Potter, Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, and Emmet Smith as Albus Potter. Felton is joined by Aidan Close as his son, Scorpius Malfoy.

The London Original: A Final Countdown

While New York celebrates Felton’s extension, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child remains one of London’s most extraordinary theatre experiences at the Palace Theatre.

Fans of the “full” experience should take note of upcoming changes to the West End staging. Until 20 September 2026, the Palace Theatre remains the only venue in the world where you can still see the original, spectacular two-part production, intended to be viewed either on the same day or across two consecutive evenings. From 6 October 2026, the London production will follow the international trend and transition to a single-part performance.

From Broadway to London?

Casting for the new single-part London production has not yet been announced. Given his Broadway extension now confirmed to 1 November 2026, it is unlikely that Felton would open the new West End version this autumn.

However, with the actor previously proving his West End mettle in 2:22 A Ghost Story, fans are already speculating: could he use a Vanishing Cabinet to bypass the Atlantic and return to his home turf in 2027? While he is busy breaking records in NYC for now, the door for a magical homecoming remains wide open.
