Trump insisted that the image depicting him as Jesus was actually supposed to show him as a doctor because he makes “people better”

President Trump offered a weak excuse for his social media outburst on Sunday night.
The President embarked on a bizarre social media rampage on Sunday night, targeting none other than Pope Leo XIV, who he accused of being “weak” and “hurting the Catholic Church.” During the slew of posts, Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus Christ.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, he addressed the backlash, saying. “I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor. It has to do with the Red Cross. A Red Cross worker is there which we support… It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better and I do make people better.”

“Only the fake news could come up with that one,” Trump said in response to the question about him depicting himself as Jesus Christ. “I just heard about it, I said, ‘how did they come up with that?'”
The AI image clearly shows the president dressed in white and red robes, surrounded by golden light, just as Jesus typically is in religious iconography. Both of his hands are glowing with golden light emitting from them.
In the image, people are also gathered around Trump as he lays his hands on a man with his eyes closed, in an apparent attempt to heal or save him. One of the people beside Trump has her hands clasped together in prayer.
On X, users responded to Trump’s explanation. @bruce_arthur wrote, “The funny thing about this explanation is that by denying blasphemy, Trump is basically admitting to a serious cognitive deficit.”
The attack on the pontiff comes after weeks of similarly unhinged Truth Social rants. Days before the deadline he issued to Iran was set to run out, Trump wrote on his social media platform, “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!”
“Open the F—— Strait, you crazy b——-, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
A few days later, in a similar move, he wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”
Despite facing bipartisan backlash for his apparent threat to commit warcrimes against the Iranian people, Trump failed to address his warning, or show any remorse for it.
The erratic behavior online combined with his unpredictability regarding foreign policy has prompted calls for Trump to be removed from office.
A recent poll conducted by John Bonifaz, president and co-founder of Free Speech for People, showed that 52% of Americans want Congress to impeach President Donald Trump. The data showed that one in seven Republicans supported removal proceedings.
