Ultraviolette partners with Bolt.Earth to roll out type-6 fast charging network across India – thepack.news


B2B News | A new collaboration aims to build one of the country’s largest public DC fast-charging networks for two- and three-wheelers, spanning seven states.

Source: LinkedIn | Ultraviolette has partnered with EV charging network operator Bolt.Earth to deploy a nationwide network of Type-6 DC fast chargers for light electric vehicles. Public charging points are already live across Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.

The partnership represents a deliberate move to align vehicle design with India’s national charging standard while simultaneously pushing for its broader adoption across the country.

Under the agreement, Bolt.Earth will deploy 2,000 chargers over a 24-month period. All newly installed units will be compatible with Ultraviolette’s current and future vehicle lineup without requiring any hardware modifications.

The 3kW DC chargers being rolled out under the partnership can charge the Ultraviolette F77 and X-47 from zero to 80 percent in approximately 2.5 hours. Bolt.Earth also plans to introduce higher-output Blaze DC chargers , in 6kW and 12kW configurations, on urban corridors and high-density routes where faster turnaround times are needed.

About Type-6

Type-6 is India’s nationally recognised standard for light electric vehicle DC charging, formally published by the Bureau of Indian Standards as IS 17017 (Part 2/Section 6). It covers a broad range of light EVs, including e-bikes, scooters, motorcycles, e-rickshaws, delivery vehicles, tricycles, and electric all-terrain vehicles.

The standard has also been adopted internationally as IEC 62196-6, lending it credibility beyond the domestic market and signalling its potential as a long-term format for light EV charging globally.
