Vikramm Bhambri opens up about his debut Hindi film Dhurandhar and the unforgettable experience of working with Ranveer Singh.

Being your first Hindi film, how special was it?

Every moment on set is etched in my memory. Standing alongside some of Bollywood’s biggest stalwarts for my very first film was overwhelming, yet immensely fulfilling.

How did you land Dhurandhar?

Like any newcomer, I went through auditions. I auditioned in May 2024 and got the offer in October 2024. It was a milestone, marking my entry into Hindi cinema.

Tell us about your character, Shakeel Commando.

I play Shakeel Commando, a henchman in Rehman Dakait’s gang. He’s a tall, rugged ‘modern nomad’- mostly silent, but his actions speak louder than words. With the deaths of characters like Donga, Siyahi, and Baba Ladla in Part One, Shakeel and the remaining gang members take centre stage in Part Two.

Your first day on set, meeting Ranveer Singh?

It was nerve-wracking at first, my mind racing with thoughts. But the moment Ranveer addressed me as ‘Vikramm sir,’ I was blown away. From that day on, he became ‘Ranveer bhai’ for me.

How would you describe Ranveer as a co-actor and person?

He’s incredibly inspiring, like a best buddy to everyone on set. Meticulous about his craft, full of energy, cheerful, motivating, humble – a true gentleman.

Key lessons from working with him?

Humility and the importance of building strong bonds with your team. Staying grounded despite success is something I’ll carry with me throughout my career.

Any funny moments from the shoot?

Yes! During our Leh schedule, a few of us took Diamox tablets for high-altitude acclimatisation. I skipped them, confident due to my fitness. Ironically, my SpO2 dropped below 80 on the second day, and I ended up on oxygen cylinders – while Rajat, whom I worried about, was perfectly fine and teasing me!

Looking back, how would you sum up the experience?

It’s been unforgettable – full of learning, excitement, and growth. From my debut to working alongside amazing co-actors like Ranveer bhai, every moment will stay close to my heart.
