The Ospreys have confirmed the signing of Wales wing Tom Rogers from arch-rivals the Scarlets.
As exclusively revealed by WalesOnline yesterday, the 27-year-old will cross the Loughor Bridge to join the Ospreys from his home region.
Rogers has made 88 appearances for the Scarlets and 13 appearances for Wales, scoring 26 tries overall up to this point in his career.
Signing a player of Rogers’ quality from a rival Welsh club is a statement of intent for the Ospreys who until recently looked like the favourites to be culled as part of the Welsh Rugby Union’s plans to reduce the number of professional clubs in Wales from four to three.
There will definitely be four teams in Wales for the 2026/27 season and the WRU will underwrite any contracts for Welsh-qualified players.
“I spoke to Mark (Jones) and a few of the boys about the Ospreys and that played a big role in making the decision to move here,” said Rogers.
“The Ospreys have had a lot of success over the years and I’m really looking forward to testing myself in a different environment.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Scarlets fans for their support during my time at the club, it has always meant a lot to me.”

Rogers will compete with the likes of Keelan Giles, Iestyn Hopkins, Luke Morgan, Daniel Kasende, Lewis Edwards and Max Nagy for a place in the back-three.
“To secure a player of Tom’s ability is nothing short of a coup and a sign of the project we are building here at the club,” said Ospreys head coach Jones.
“Tom is an excellent, international talent that will add to our already exceptional core of back three players.
“He’s a bit of a Swiss Army knife in the fact he is equally adept at full-back and wing, and we have no doubt that he will hit the ground running when he comes in next season.
“A big part of our recruitment strategy this season was to secure our young homegrown talent and we’re happy with the business we have done already on that front, but it was also important to add quality where possible.
“We feel that the addition of Tom definitely fits that bill.”
Rogers’ departure is a blow for the Scarlets but they do have quality in the back-three with the likes of Blair Murray, Ellis Mee, Macs Page, Jac Davies and Tomi Lewis, while the likes of Callum Woolley and Iori Badham are promising youngsters.
“Tom’s journey is a great example of what this club stands for; coming through our pathway, developing as a player and going on to represent your country,” said the Scarlets’ interim director of rugby Nigel Davies.
“We are obviously disappointed to see him move on, there was a contract offer for him to stay with us and continue his career with Scarlets, but we understand his decision to look for a new challenge.
“He has made a strong contribution to the Scarlets over a number of seasons and has always represented the club with professionalism and pride. We thank him for that and wish him every success for the future.
“Our focus now is very clear. We are building a squad that is aligned, competitive and capable of driving this club forward.
“We have real strength and depth developing across the back three, with a group that combines international quality with exciting young talent coming through our pathway. That gives us a strong platform to build from.
