Security Forces Dismantle Terror Networks in Kashmir: 8 Suspects Arrested, Massive Arms Cache Seized

SRINAGAR: In a significant crackdown on militancy in the region, joint teams of the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully arrested eight terror suspects across three districts. The operations, which yielded a substantial recovery of weapons and propaganda material, are being hailed by officials as a major blow to terror networks operating within the Union Territory.

Targeted Operations in South Kashmir

The coordinated efforts spanned several hotspots in south Kashmir, an area that has seen renewed security focus in recent months.

In Shopian district, two separate operations resulted in the apprehension of six individuals. During a routine naka (checkpoint) inspection at Heerpora, security forces intercepted a two-wheeler, leading to the arrest of three individuals: Junaid Muzaffar Dar, Aamir Yousaf, and Junaid Bashir Dar, all residents of Kulgam. Authorities recovered two hand grenades and incriminating posters from their possession.

In a follow-up operation in Shopian, a joint patrolling team consisting of the Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the CRPF, and local police apprehended three more terrorist associates—identified as Haris Manzoor, Ashiq Hussain, and Arif Ahmad Kumar, all hailing from Anantnag. The recovery from this group included an additional hand grenade, two AK-47 magazines, 20 rounds of ammunition, and further propaganda materials.

Simultaneously, in the Pulwama district, a intelligence-based search operation led to the arrest of two more suspects. Forces recovered a pistol, a hand grenade, and a stash of ammunition from the pair, effectively thwarting potential threats in the area.

North Kashmir Arms Seizure

While the focus remained heavily on the southern districts, security forces also targeted logistical support networks in the north. In the Manzseer area of Sopore, a combined security force operation led to the discovery of a significant cache of “war-like stores.”

The recovery included:

• One AK-series rifle
• Three magazines
• Four hand grenades
• A substantial quantity of ammunition

Military officials confirmed that the operation in Sopore is part of a larger ongoing effort to neutralize militant support infrastructure. Search operations in the vicinity continue as forces look to identify further links to the recovered weapons.

This series of arrests marks a critical success for regional security agencies. By disrupting these cells, security forces have not only confiscated lethal hardware but also seized ideological materials intended to destabilize the region.
