Russia has reportedly received its initial shipment of gasoline from India, according to data cited by the Bloomberg news agency from the Kpler service.
The shipment, which arrived on August 5, originated from Nayara Energy, an Indian oil refinery partially owned by Russia’s Rosneft. The tanker Cyclone reportedly loaded approximately 42,000 tons of fuel on June 18. This cargo was then transferred to another vessel near the Egyptian port of Damietta in July before ultimately reaching Russia in early August.
This development follows earlier reports by Reuters in early July, which indicated that Russia had begun purchasing gasoline from India amidst a domestic fuel crisis. At that time, sources suggested that at least 60,000 tons had already been dispatched. An industry source further informed Reuters that Russia plans to import a total of 400,000 tons of gasoline per month from various international suppliers.
It is noteworthy that India is a significant purchaser of Russian oil. In June, Russian oil exports to India reached an unprecedented 2.7 million barrels per day, constituting over half of India’s total oil imports.
