DAYTON, OH – August 17, 2026 – The Greater Dayton Better Business Bureau (BBB) today announced the appointment of John Morris as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Morris steps into the role following a period of transition, succeeding the late John North and the interim leadership of Christy Mauch.
Maha Kashani, Chairman of the BBB Board of Directors and Senior Commercial and Industrial Sales Manager for IGS Energy, praised Mauch’s contributions during a critical time. "Following the legacy of the late John North, our BBB was incredibly fortunate to have Christy Mauch’s steady leadership guiding us through a challenging year of transition," Kashani stated in a news release. "Her care and dedication provided stability when we needed it most, and we are deeply grateful for all she has done for our organization."
Kashani expressed enthusiasm for Morris’s appointment, highlighting the critical juncture at which he takes the helm. "John Morris now takes the torch at a truly pivotal moment for the BBB and the marketplace we serve," she continued. "While technology will continue to reshape how businesses and consumers connect, the values that earn trust remain timeless. We are excited for John to lead our organization into its next chapter, ensuring trust and integrity remain at the heart of the greater Dayton business community."
Morris brings a wealth of experience in organizational development, business advocacy, and community engagement to his new role. Prior to joining the BBB, he served as Executive Director of Organizational Development for United Group Services, an industrial construction company, where he was instrumental in strengthening organizational strategy and leadership development.
Before his tenure at United Group Services, Morris spent 14 years as President and CEO of the Associated Builders & Contractors/Home Builders Association. His extensive career also includes serving as Chief Operating Officer and Professor of Economics at the University of Cincinnati, as well as a high school principal and Chief Operations Manager for Cincinnati Public Schools.
Beyond his professional achievements, Morris has a distinguished record of public service and community involvement. He has served as an elected official, a member of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, and on the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce’s Diverse by Design Committee. His impactful leadership has garnered numerous accolades, including being named a Super Achiever in Business by the Cincinnati Business Courier and a Dayton Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree.
"It is an honor to have been selected to be the next leader of BBB, Greater Dayton," Morris commented. "I look forward to getting to work and building on John North’s legacy, establishing trust and integrity in the marketplace, helping consumers connect with the region’s best businesses. In an era when seemingly anyone can say anything online, people simply don’t know whom or what to trust. Having a local organization like BBB actively working to recognize those truly committed to quality products and services is more important than ever."
Morris’s appointment signals a renewed focus on maintaining high standards of integrity and consumer confidence in the rapidly evolving digital marketplace. His proven leadership and dedication to community engagement are expected to guide the Greater Dayton BBB into a new era of service and relevance for both businesses and consumers.
