Crunchyroll Expands "Naruto Shippūden" Dubs, Fueling India’s Anime Boom
Mumbai, India – August 19, 2024 – Anime enthusiasts across India can rejoice as leading streaming service, Crunchyroll, continues to significantly expand its localized offerings for the massively popular series, Naruto Shippūden. As of Monday, the platform began streaming episodes 113-175 of the beloved ninja saga in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English dubs, marking another substantial step in its commitment to the burgeoning Indian anime market.
This latest release builds upon Crunchyroll’s strategic rollout of dubbed content, which commenced on July 6 with the initial batches of Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs for Naruto Shippūden. The company has ambitious plans to deliver additional dubbed episodes through September 2026, ensuring a steady flow of localized content for its growing audience.
Naruto Shippūden picks up with a now-teenage Naruto Uzumaki returning to his village after years of intense training. Alongside his steadfast companions, Naruto is immediately thrust into new challenges, confronting the enigmatic and formidable Akatsuki organization. The series, known for its compelling narrative, intense action sequences, and themes of friendship and perseverance, sees Naruto pushing his will and training to their absolute limits to protect his village and friends. Crunchyroll currently offers all 17 seasons of Naruto Shippūden for streaming in India.
Crunchyroll has been a pivotal player in bringing the world of Naruto to Indian viewers. The platform also streams all nine seasons of the original Naruto anime in India. In May 2025, it introduced Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English dubs for seasons four, five, and six of the original series, quickly followed by dubs for season seven later that month. The presence of the Naruto franchise in India extends beyond Crunchyroll. Sony YAY!, a popular children’s entertainment channel, began airing the first season of the original Naruto anime in August 2022, with the second season following in December 2022. Sony YAY! further expanded its anime offerings by commencing the broadcast of Naruto Shippūden in March 2024. The company also launched its dedicated Anime Booth channel on Airtel Digital TV in February 2024, featuring Naruto as a prominent launch title.
Netflix, another major streaming contender, also plays a significant role in making the Naruto saga accessible in India. The platform currently streams all nine seasons of the original Naruto anime. It began streaming the first four seasons of Naruto Shippūden in August 2022, quickly adding seasons four through nine in September 2022, and seasons 10 through 18 in October 2022. Additionally, Anime Times broadened the availability of the series by adding it to Amazon Prime Video in February 2024.
Fans of the original Naruto anime have more to look forward to, as four "brand-new" episodes were slated to air in September 2023 to commemorate the franchise’s 20th anniversary. However, these episodes have been delayed, with new release dates yet to be announced.
