India Bolsters Naval Surveillance with $203 Million Drone Lease from General Atomics
NEW DELHI – August 17, 2026 – In a significant move to enhance its maritime reconnaissance capabilities, India announced on Monday the signing of a substantial contract with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. The agreement entails the lease of two MQ-9B Sea Guardian high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the Indian Navy.
The strategic lease, valued at an estimated 19.43 billion rupees (approximately $203 million USD), is set for a period of 30 months.
