Surat, India – A tragic incident in Surat has cast a dark shadow over what was meant to be a simple family dinner, leading to the death of a five-year-old girl and the hospitalization of four family members. The family alleges the fatal outcome was due to severe food poisoning caused by a Kaju-Paneer Curry ordered from a local eatery.
The incident unfolded in the Ranujadham Society of Surat city, where the family had ordered a Kaju-Paneer Curry from Sheetal Restaurant. The family recounted a harrowing sequence of events beginning around 4 AM on August 16, when Ashokbhai Kalsaria and one of his daughters, Arya, began experiencing intense stomach pain. Initially seeking treatment at a local clinic around 9 AM, their condition rapidly deteriorated. Soon after, other family members also fell ill, prompting an urgent transfer to Sadvichar Hospital in the city.
Tragically, five-year-old Arya succumbed to her illness within 15 to 20 minutes of arriving at the hospital’s emergency room. Her father, Ashokbhai, his wife, and their two other daughters are currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Medical professionals have confirmed their diagnosis as food poisoning.
Government Takes Swift Action
The severity of the incident has prompted a rapid response from state authorities. Health Minister Praful Pansheriya immediately convened an urgent video conference with District Health Officer Dr. Anil Patel and Surat Municipal Corporation official Dr. Umrigar to assess the situation and implement necessary measures.
Minister Pansheriya issued directives to ensure that the surviving family members receive the highest standard of medical care. Furthermore, he ordered the immediate sealing of Sheetal Restaurant, the establishment implicated in the food poisoning. The Minister also instructed local municipal and district health officers to initiate strict legal action against all individuals found responsible for this tragic incident.
This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of food safety standards and the devastating consequences when they are compromised. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning and hold all responsible parties accountable.
