Siri AI Poised for Apple TV 4K Debut with tvOS 27, Leaked Evidence Suggests

Cupertino, CA – After a conspicuous absence from the initial unveiling of Siri AI for most Apple platforms in June, new evidence suggests that Apple’s enhanced artificial intelligence assistant is finally making its way to the Apple TV 4K with the forthcoming tvOS 27 update. This development contradicts earlier assumptions that the living room device, alongside the HomePod, might be left out of the AI revolution, and instead points towards a unified Siri experience across Apple’s ecosystem.

At this summer’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple heavily emphasized a "One Siri" approach, promising a consistent and personalized AI experience across various devices. David Clark, Apple’s senior director of watchOS software engineering, reinforced this vision in an interview with TechRadar, stating, "We really wanted to make sure the Siri experience is a singular and consistent experience, whether I decide to ask Siri on my wrist a question, or whether I have my phone in my hand and I decide to interact with Siri there." He added, "We really wanted to feel like it’s one Siri, that has access to your data and is able to personalise it in a consistent way."

However, this ambitious vision notably omitted any specific mention of Siri AI support for Apple TV 4K or HomePod, leaving users of these devices wondering about their future with the advanced assistant. While minor feature updates were announced for tvOS and HomePod OS, the absence of AI integration was a significant point of concern for many.

The prevailing theory among tech analysts was that Siri AI integration for these devices was being held back, likely to coincide with the release of new, unannounced hardware. This speculation appears to be gaining traction with the latest leak.

tvOS 27 Reveals Siri AI Codename

The most compelling evidence for Siri AI’s arrival on Apple TV comes from an unexpected source: the Device Hub within Xcode in macOS 27. When examining the Apps list for tvOS 27 in a simulator, a new entry for "Siri" has appeared. Crucially, this Siri entry is associated with the string ‘com.apple.campo’.

Previous reports have identified ‘campos’ as Apple’s internal codename for its advanced Siri AI initiative. A comparison with tvOS 26 simulator modes further solidifies this discovery, as the ‘Siri’ entry is entirely absent from the older version’s app list, confirming its new inclusion in tvOS 27.

This strong correlation between the ‘Siri’ app and the ‘campo’ codename strongly suggests that Siri AI will indeed debut with tvOS 27 this fall. The presence of a dedicated "Siri" entry in the Apps list could even hint at a more prominent Siri application on the Apple TV interface, though it’s important to note that this list also includes system functions not always presented as user-facing apps.

Attempts to launch ‘Campo.app’ within the Device Hub resulted in an error message: "Denying open-application request for reason: Disabled (App ‘com.apple.campo’ is not enabled)." While this prevents further exploration of its functionalities, it further corroborates the existence of the ‘campo’ application within tvOS 27.

While details regarding which existing Apple TV 4K models will support Siri AI remain unclear, or if new features will be exclusive to upcoming hardware, this leak points to a significant upgrade for the platform. It’s becoming increasingly likely that Siri AI will be a key selling point for Apple’s anticipated new Apple TV 4K hardware, expected to be unveiled this fall. The prospect of a truly intelligent and unified Siri experience across all Apple devices, including the television, is a highly anticipated development for many users.
