Production for ‘Animal Park’ Pushed to Late 2027: Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Brother Shares Update
Fans eager for the next installment of the high-octane franchise Animal will need to exercise a bit more patience. Pranay Reddy Vanga, brother of acclaimed director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has provided a definitive update on the production timeline for the sequel, Animal Park.
According to Pranay, the creative team intends to take a deliberate six-month hiatus following the completion and release of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming action thriller, Spirit. Given that the Prabhas-starrer Spirit is slated to hit theaters on March 5, 2027, the cameras for Animal Park are not expected to start rolling until the latter half of 2027.
A Complex Production Calendar
The delay is largely dictated by the packed schedules of the film’s key contributors. Ranbir Kapoor, who is set to reprise his role in the sequel—with reports suggesting he may play a double role—has a demanding slate of projects ahead.
By the time Animal Park enters production, Kapoor will likely be finalizing his work for the much-anticipated Ramayana: Part 2, currently targeted for a Diwali 2027 release. Furthermore, his schedule is already crowded with commitments to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War (expected in early 2027) and potential filming for Brahmastra 2: Dev around the middle of the same year. Coordinating these high-profile projects remains a significant logistical hurdle.
Mixed Fan Reactions
The news has sparked a flurry of discourse across social media platforms. Some fans have expressed frustration over the extended timeline, with one Reddit user noting, "It would be too late, I guess… should have worked on it when Animal was buzzing." Others voiced concerns regarding potential burnout or the challenge of keeping the script’s momentum alive over several years.
Conversely, many supporters are choosing to remain optimistic. Drawing parallels to the massive success of the KGF franchise, which saw a five-year gap between its first and second installments, these fans believe that time is essential for the director to craft a worthy follow-up.
The Path Forward
Ranbir Kapoor previously teased that the vision for the sequel was solidified during the production of the original film. Rather than a standalone story, Animal Park is expected to act as a direct continuation of the intense, visceral world established in the first movie.
As the anticipation builds, the industry is keeping a close watch on Animal Park for further casting and narrative updates. For now, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga remains focused on delivering Spirit, setting the stage for what is shaping up to be a long-term expansion of his cinematic universe.
