Samsung appears to be digging into its archives of “what could have been.” According to a flurry of reports from prominent industry leakers, the tech giant is planning to resurrect a distinctive camera design originally intended for the canceled Galaxy S26 Edge, potentially bringing it to the upcoming Galaxy S27 series.

A Borrowed Aesthetic

Industry insiders, including Ice Universe, Sonny Dickson, and Max Jambor, have all corroborated that the S27 lineup—with a particular focus on the high-end Galaxy S27 Ultra—will move toward a unified “camera bar” aesthetic. This design was previously spotted in leaks surrounding the shelved Galaxy S26 Edge project.

The proposed design features a prominent camera plateau that extends across the rear of the device, drawing comparisons to the design language currently employed by Apple in the iPhone 17 series. The layout suggests a configuration where two primary camera lenses are situated on the left, accompanied by a pill-shaped housing for a third sensor and the LED flash.

Exclusivity and Hardware Shifts

While the design is turning heads, it may not be universal across the entire range. Reports indicate that Samsung could reserve this striking new look specifically for the Ultra model, with standard S27 units potentially maintaining a more traditional, iterative design.

Adding to the intrigue, rumors suggest significant internal shifts to accommodate this new look.
