Top stocks to buy today: Stock recommendations for August 27, 2026 - check list

Market Outlook: Expert Shares Top Stock Picks for August 27, 2026

As investors navigate current market volatility, Aakash K. Hindocha, Vice President of Research at Nuvama Professional Clients Group/Nuvama Wealth, has unveiled his latest top stock recommendations to guide trading strategies for August 27, 2026.

With a focus on technical momentum and structural patterns, Hindocha has identified three key stocks—Vedanta, CDSL, and Ashok Leyland—that present favorable risk-reward profiles for market participants.

Technical Picks for Today

1. Vedanta (BUY)

  • LCP: Rs 286.50
  • Target: Rs 314
  • Stop Loss: Rs 273

Vedanta (VEDL) shows strong technical positioning after finding support near its 200-day moving average. The stock has maintained a firm stance above its 50-day moving average for four consecutive sessions. According to Hindocha, the recent price action indicates both a trendline breakout and a “cup-and-handle” pattern, signaling a bullish outlook.

2. Central Depository Services (India) Ltd (BUY)

  • LCP: Rs 1434
  • Target: Rs 1555
  • Stop Loss: Rs 1375

CDSL has been building a symmetrical triangle pattern over the past 18 months. Currently trading near the upper bound of this formation, the stock is showing signs of a potential breakout. Technical indicators are further bolstered by a 50 and 20 SMA crossover on the daily chart, reinforcing the bullish momentum.

3. Ashok Leyland (BUY)

  • LCP: Rs 179.05
  • Target: Rs 196
  • Stop Loss: Rs 171

After a period of consolidation following its July-August surge, Ashok Leyland appears poised for a trend continuation. The 14-day RSI has pivoted upward, crossing the 60 threshold, which suggests a pickup in buying momentum. The stock finds strong support near its 200-day moving average at the Rs 170–171 level.

Index Analysis: Nifty and Bank Nifty

Nifty:
Despite a slight dip in the previous session, the index continues to find a robust support floor between 24,000 and 24,200. Analysts maintain a “buy on dips” strategy, with sights set on the 200-day moving average resistance level near 24,660.

Bank Nifty:
Showing relative strength, Bank Nifty closed higher in the previous session. The index is successfully holding its 6.5-year polarity support near the 57,150 mark. Having reclaimed its 200-day moving average, the index is eyeing an upward movement toward the 58,300–58,600 range, continuing to attract buyers on any pullbacks.
