Ravi Teja’s ‘Irumudi’ Hits Rs 124.85 Crore Milestone Amidst Theatre Allocation Controversy

Ravi Teja’s latest cinematic outing, Irumudi, continues to demonstrate significant commercial strength as it concludes its successful first week at the box office. Despite facing stiff competition and internal industry disputes regarding screen distribution, the film has officially surpassed the Rs 124 crore mark in worldwide gross collections.

Box Office Performance: A Steady Run

According to data provided by industry tracker Sacnilk, Irumudi maintained a consistent pace on its seventh day, raking in an estimated Rs 6.90 crore net in India. This brings the film’s cumulative India net collection to an impressive Rs 92.15 crore, while the total India gross stands at Rs 106.95 crore.

When combined with its robust international performance—which added another Rs 17.90 crore to the coffers—the film’s worldwide box office collections have reached a total of Rs 124.85 crore. While the seventh-day figures represent a roughly 32% decline from the previous day, the film remains a dominant force, particularly in the Telugu-speaking states.

Regional Dominance and Occupancy

The Telugu version continues to be the primary engine driving the film’s success. On day seven, the Telugu iteration registered a healthy 55% overall occupancy across 2,358 shows, with night screenings peaking at a 66.23% occupancy rate. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana emerged as the strongest markets, contributing a combined Rs 7.25 crore to the daily gross, while Karnataka and Tamil Nadu provided supplementary support.

Theatre Allocation Dispute

The film’s journey has not been without turbulence. Recent reports have highlighted a controversy involving the sudden reassignment of screens from Irumudi to Yash’s Toxic.

Industry figures, including producer-distributor Natti Kumar, have publicly criticized the move, labeling the distribution of approximately 250 screens to Toxic at the expense of Irumudi as “unfair.” The situation escalated in some regions, such as Mahbubnagar, where irate fans reportedly raised slogans and pressured theatre management to restore screenings of the Ravi Teja starrer.

Natti Kumar noted that the situation is fluid, claiming that nearly 30 theatres have already reverted to screening Irumudi following lukewarm reception for the competing title. He suggested that as Toxic faces a potential decline in demand, more than 100 additional screens across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may reinstate Irumudi in the coming days, potentially providing a late-run boost to the film’s earnings.
