The ongoing imprisonment of former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan has spilled into the sporting arena, sparking a fresh diplomatic and media row following a high-profile interview with his sons.

Sources indicate that the Pakistan cricket team considered refusing to return to the field while the interview was being broadcast. “They are not even acting with any kind of strategy any more,” Kasim said. “It is not very clear what they are doing, just blatantly trying to kill him in there.”

He further alleged that the 1992 World Cup-winning captain spends over 23 hours a day in solitary confinement with minimal access to reading material or basic amenities. However, his sons alleged that instead of being taken to a private facility, he was rushed through a brief examination at a government clinic before being returned immediately to Adiala Jail.

While Khan was eventually moved to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad on August 21 for a formal check-up, the incident exacerbated public fears regarding the government’s commitment to his wellbeing.

A group of legendary cricketers, including India’s Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, recently penned a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
