Two people taken to hospital after ambulance and car crash in Liverpool


Emergency services attended the incident in Liverpool city centre this afternoon

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash involving an ambulance and a car in Liverpool city centre. Merseyside Fire and Rescue said that they arrived at the incident on Byrom Street and Hunter Street at 6.10pm today, Sunday (March 29).

Pictures taken by the ECHO show the front of an ambulance was heavily damaged in the incident. A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) spokesperson said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident at Byrom Street, Hunter Street, in the L3 area of Liverpool, on the evening of Sunday, March 29.

“Crews were alerted at 6.07pm and on scene at 6.10pm with two fire engines attending.

“On arrival this was a two-vehicle road traffic collision, both vehicles on all four wheels.

“Firefighters made the scene safe after a large amount of fuel was present on the carriageway.

“One occupant of the first vehicle was assessed at scene by North West Ambulance Service paramedics and conveyed to hospital for further treatment. Two occupants of the second vehicle were initially deemed fit and well, though after assessment at the scene one person was conveyed to hospital for precautionary checks.

“Merseyside Police also attended to arrange vehicle recovery. MFRS personnel completed a handover with police before leaving the scene at 6.44pm.”
