Market Outlook: Expert Shares Top Stock Picks and Technical Analysis for August 31–September 4
As the Indian equity markets enter a new trading week, investors are closely monitoring technical indicators to navigate the current climate of consolidation. Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities, has released his latest market assessment for the week of August 31–September 4, 2026, highlighting specific opportunities for traders.
In his latest report, Shah has identified two primary top stocks to buy: Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Ramkrishna Forgings.
Stock Recommendations
1. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals
Glenmark has demonstrated significant bullish momentum, rallying approximately 13% from its August 19 low of 2,223. The stock recently closed above its previous swing high of 2,474. With its RSI settling above the 60 mark on both daily and weekly timeframes, the stock shows robust strength. Furthermore, the Glenmark/Nifty Pharma ratio chart suggests the stock is currently outperforming its sector.
- Strategy: Accumulate in the 2,495–2,520 range.
- Stop Loss: 2,420.
- Target: 2,700.
2. Ramkrishna Forgings (RKFORGE)
RKFORGE has successfully broken out of its recent three-day consolidation range of 713–741. Supported by rising volumes and a rebounding RSI, the stock is showing renewed bullish energy. Additionally, the ADX on the weekly chart is trending upward, confirming the strength of the current bullish move.
- Strategy: Accumulate in the 745–755 range.
- Stop Loss: 720.
- Target: 800.
Index Outlook: Nifty and Bank Nifty
Nifty 50: Sideways Consolidation
The benchmark index has struggled for direction over the past seven sessions, oscillating between 24,077 and 24,379. Having failed to sustain its 200-day EMA, the index closed the week near the 24,100 mark, marking its third consecutive negative weekly finish. Technical indicators, including the RSI and stochastic, currently reflect a sideways momentum.
- Key Support: 24,000–23,950. A break below 23,950 could trigger a slide toward 23,700.
- Key Hurdle: 24,250–24,300 (20-day EMA zone).
Bank Nifty: Volatility Contraction
The banking index has remained trapped in a narrow range of roughly 1,075 points. The daily chart indicates a “Bollinger Band Squeeze,” a technical formation that often precedes a sharp directional breakout following a period of low volatility. With the ADX hitting an all-time low of 8.06, the market is signaling that a significant move may be on the horizon.
- Key Support: 57,200–57,000.
- Key Hurdle: 58,000–58,200.
