Actor–producer Legend Saravanan spoke at the audio and trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Leader,’ directed by Durai Senthilkumar. The event took place in Chennai ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on April 3. Beginning his speech on a thoughtful note, Legend Saravanan prayed for peace and safety for people across the world. He expressed happiness about presenting his second film after ‘The Legend’ and said the entire team has worked hard to make the film engaging. Legend Saravanan also pointed out that ‘Leader’ releases on Good Friday, making it a special occasion for audiences to watch the film in theatres during the summer holidays.
‘Leader’ – A father–daughter bond at the heart of the film
Speaking about the storyline, Saravanan shared that the film focuses on the emotional bond between a father and his daughter. “A peaceful father–daughter relationship faces unexpected changes when a powerful gangster enters their lives. That emotional journey forms the core of this film,” he said. As per Cinema Vikatan, he also praised director Durai Senthilkumar for his dedication and commitment during the making of the movie. “Durai Senthilkumar has completely dedicated himself to this film. Anyone who works with heart and passion will definitely succeed,” Saravanan said. He also recalled how composer Ghibran reacted after watching the completed film. “Ghibran spoke to the director for nearly half an hour, praising the film. I don’t think he has appreciated any other film like that,” he added, noting that the songs in the movie travel naturally with the story.
Legend Saravanan opens up about tough filming conditions
Legend Saravanan also spoke about the challenges faced during the film’s production. “We shot for 14 days at the Georgia airport in -14 degrees. It was extremely cold, and even moving our hands and legs was difficult,” he said. The climax scene was particularly demanding, as it involved hundreds of foreign stunt artists and was filmed inside a narrow train compartment. During the shoot, Saravanan suffered a serious leg injury. “I injured my leg during the climax sequence. But hundreds of technicians were waiting on set, so I took an injection and continued acting. Even today, I don’t know where that energy came from,” he recalled.
Legend Saravanan’s strong confidence in ‘Leader’
Legend Saravanan also praised the performances of the film’s cast. “Lal sir is a genius, and acting with him was challenging. Sham has delivered a mature performance, and Andrea has acted exactly the way the director imagined,” he said. He also appreciated Aishwarya Lakshmi’s role and VTV Ganesh’s comedy, which made the team laugh during shooting. Saravanan revealed that director Vetri Maaran and actor Dhanush watched the film and praised it. “They said the film looks grand and impressive,” he shared. Expressing confidence, he added, “I believe ‘Leader’ will stand alongside blockbusters like ‘Jailer,’ ‘Vikram,’ and ‘Leo.’” He ended with a dialogue from the film: “God does not do everything directly. He works through good people. Trust them… and trust me too.”
