Nintendo has officially bolstered its Nintendo Switch Online service this September, delivering a fresh infusion of nostalgia for subscribers. The latest update to the NES library adds three distinct titles to the platform, offering a mix of high-stakes action, racing intensity, and classic platforming.
The new additions, which were showcased in an official trailer released by Nintendo, provide a varied look at the 8-bit era.

Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (1991)
Players can once again take control of master ninja Ryu Hayabusa in this definitive conclusion to the iconic trilogy. This title tasks players with uncovering the truth behind the tragic death of Irene Lew while battling the forces of evil through intense, fast-paced platforming sequences that defined the series.
R.C. Pro-AM II (1992)
Developed by the legendary studio Rare, this sequel elevates the original’s classic racing formula. With 24 challenging tracks, competitive multiplayer for up to two players, and an expanded “R.C. Model Shop” for car upgrades, R.C. Pro-AM II remains a standout title that rewards both skill and strategy. It even includes unique bonus challenges like the “Tug O’ Truck” and “Drag Race” modes to keep the competition fierce.
Ikari Warriors (1986)
For fans of classic run-and-gun shooters, this SNK port brings the heat. Players step into the boots of soldiers Paul and Vince, infiltrating an enemy stronghold. With limited ammunition and the ability to pilot tanks and helicopters, the game demands tactical resource management as players fight through relentless waves of enemies.
Regional Variations
While the Western market receives the trio above, Nintendo has catered to its Japanese audience with a slight variation. Japanese subscribers to the Famicom app on Switch Online will receive Dragon Buster (1985) instead of R.C. Pro-AM II.
Dragon Buster is a pioneering action-RPG where players control the protagonist, Clovis. The quest features sword-and-sorcery gameplay, requiring players to navigate treacherous mountains and ruins to slay dragons and rescue Princess Celia.
