The gritty, power-hungry world of Mirzapur is set to make a thunderous transition from small screens to the big screen. Ahead of its highly anticipated theatrical release on Friday, September 4, the film adaptation of the cult-favorite franchise is already shattering expectations, with early ticket sales signaling a potential double-digit opening at the box office.

According to data from Sacnilk, the film has generated significant buzz across the country, recording an estimated Rs 9.18 crore in pure advance bookings for its opening day. When accounting for blocked seats, that figure jumps to an impressive Rs 12.54 crore, underscoring the immense popularity of the franchise. The Hindi-language version dominates the sales, contributing approximately Rs 9.14 crore, while the Telugu version has added roughly Rs 3.84 lakh to the total.

Regional Dominance and Market Trends

The excitement for the film is spread across key territories, with the National Capital Region leading the charge. Delhi has emerged as the top market, contributing approximately Rs 2.27 crore to the advance booking tally. Uttar Pradesh, the cinematic home of the franchise, follows closely with Rs 1.85 crore, while Maharashtra continues to show robust interest with Rs 1.84 crore in early sales.

Industry experts suggest that these numbers position the film to become one of the most successful OTT-to-theatre conversions in Indian cinema, proving that the loyal fan base built over years of streaming is eager to experience the saga in a communal setting.

Pankaj Tripathi, who returns to his iconic role as the formidable Kaleen Bhaiya, recently shared his excitement about the theatrical shift. “Whenever a performance or art form is experienced communally, the impact changes entirely,” Tripathi remarked. “Enjoying it in a group creates a unique, shared experience. So, while Mirzapur used to be a ‘leave me alone’ kind of watch, it’s now in ‘party mode.’ The world is the same, the characters are the same, but the story is new, and the experience is much grander.”
