Kayadu Lohar Breaks Silence on Promotional Absence Amidst ‘I’m Game’ and ‘Immortal’ Controversy
Rising star Kayadu Lohar has finally addressed the swirling online speculation regarding her selective participation in the promotional campaigns for her recent films, I’m Game and Immortal. The actress found herself at the center of a debate after appearing at promotional events for the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer I’m Game, while remaining notably absent from the campaign for her Tamil release, Immortal.
The two films were released in close proximity, with I’m Game hitting theaters on September 3, followed by Immortal on September 4. This rapid succession, paired with the disparity in her public appearances, led many to question her commitment to her projects.
Scheduling Conflicts and Professional Constraints
In an exclusive conversation with Galatta Plus, Lohar clarified that the situation was not a matter of preference, but rather a logistical impossibility. She explained that she had only one single day available for promotional duties during that period, and unfortunately, the schedules for the two films did not align.
“I had only one day available for the I’m Game promotion, so I did that, and the team on Immortal didn’t have that date,” Lohar stated.
The actress further emphasized that her schedule was exceptionally demanding due to her ongoing commitments. During this time, she was actively shooting for a highly anticipated project alongside superstar Suriya, which limited her ability to balance multiple press tours. Lohar also noted that her absence was not exclusive to Immortal; she had to miss a subsequent promotional event for I’m Game as well due to these time constraints.
Addressing the “Political” Nature of Online Speculation
The intense scrutiny took a toll on the actress, prompting her to briefly step away from social media. Reflecting on the “complicated” nature of public discourse, Lohar expressed frustration at the narrative being built around her professional choices.
“There are people who have their own thoughts about it—that this film is important, and this film is not important—why she’s not there. It’s still very difficult to understand all of this; it’s very political too,” she shared. Describing herself as an “innocent and honest” person, she admitted she struggles with the scrutiny but has since returned to social media with a more balanced perspective. “I’ve accepted it… I know there are people who are talking about good things also.”
Growth Through Challenges
Despite the recent controversy, the actress remains focused on her craft. Discussing her experience working with a powerhouse talent like Suriya, Lohar revealed that she thrives under pressure. Rather than feeling intimidated, she views high-stakes environments as an opportunity for self-improvement. “When I get challenged, I really push myself hard,” she noted, describing it as a healthy competition that drives her to deliver her best performances.

Directed by Nahas Hidhayath and marking Dulquer Salmaan’s return to Malayalam cinema after a three-year hiatus, the action thriller earned an impressive Rs 5.05 crore net on its opening day in India. With a worldwide gross currently standing at Rs 10.90 crore, the film has clearly resonated with audiences, proving that the I’m Game momentum remains high regardless of the behind-the-scenes promotional hurdles.
