Sky News was interrupted for a breaking announcement on Donald Trump. Mark Austin shared the update which came straight from the White House, revealing that the US President has fired Attorney General Pam Bondi. The Sky News host said: “I’m bringing you some breaking news from the White House and it is a White House official confirming that President Trump has removed Pam Bondi as US Attorney General. Pam Bondi has been sacked.”
Sharing further details on the bombshell update was correspondent David Blevins, who reported live from Washington. He confirmed the breaking news, saying: “Yes, Pam Bondi is out. The Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, we are told, will step up and become acting Attorney General of the United States.
“It would seem Pam Bondi’s sharp, combative approach, which really brought her to the attention of Donald Trump, may, in the end, have been her undoing.”
He noted that Bondi had a tendency to “frame political disputes in stark legal terms”, highlighting the difference between being a political fighter and Attorney General of the United States.
Blevins added: “The president had been very unhappy with her in recent months, we understand, over the fallout from the Epstein files, which he blames her for. He also thinks the Department of Justice has not been pursuing his political opponents aggressively enough.”
He added that Bondi is the second person to be sacked from Trump’s cabinet in recent months, following the departure of Kristi Noem from the Department of Homeland Security.
Trump confirmed that Bondi will take a “new job in the private sector” and be replaced by Blanche in a post on Truth Social.
“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,” he wrote.
“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.
“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
