Sky News paused for breaking alert and it’s devastating for Trump | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Presenter Gareth Barlow interrupted Sky News with a breaking alert today (April 13) – and it’s not a good look for US president Donald Trump. Barlow was handed a statement live on-air from Pope Leo, responding to comments made by Trump overnight that fumed the pontiff needs to “stop catering to the radical left”.

Barlow explained on the programme: “I’ve just been sent the comments that the Pope made. He said that he didn’t want to get into a debate with President Trump, saying: ‘I don’t think the message of the gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing’, adding, ‘I will continue to speak out loudly against war, looking to promote peace, dialogue and multilateral relationships among the states to look for solutions to problems’.”

He added: “Responding there saying that he would continue to speak out despite the fact that he has been criticised by the president, who said: ‘If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.’”

“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”

He suggested the pope was elected because he was American, and that “would be the best way to deal with President Donald J Trump.”

Speaking to reporters about the post, he doubled down: “He’s a very liberal person, and he’s a man who doesn’t believe in stopping crime, he’s a man who doesn’t believe we should be toying with a country that wants a nuclear weapon so they can blow up the world.”
