Switch Mobility Completes India’s Largest Electric Bus Export to Mauritius

Switch Mobility has completed India’s largest export of electric buses, with 100 units delivered to Mauritius as part of a bilateral initiative focused on public transport electrification.

The buses are based on Switch Mobility’s EiV12 platform and are intended for use in urban transit across the island nation.

The delivery was carried out under a government-to-government arrangement between India and Mauritius.

The final batch of 90 buses was formally handed over by India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam during an official ceremony attended by senior representatives from both countries. The deployment marks the largest single export of electric buses from India to date.

The procurement process was managed through an open tender conducted by Convergence Energy Services Limited. The buses will be operated by the National Transport Corporation, which manages public bus services in Mauritius.

Each EiV12 bus has a seating capacity of around 45 passengers and is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries mounted low in the chassis for improved stability. The vehicles also include telematics systems for real-time monitoring and fleet management, as well as charging interfaces designed to support depot operations.

The initiative is intended to support Mauritius in reducing emissions and modernising its public transport network. It also reflects India’s expanding role in the global electric mobility sector, with domestically manufactured vehicles being supplied to international markets.
