A specialist environmental and sustainability consultancy based near Chester has been acquired by Yorkshire-based enevo, for an undisclosed sum.

The group is headquartered in Birstall, near Leeds. It is a fast-growing national provider of built environment Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) services.

Element Sustainability is situated in Tarvin, Chester.

The acquisition strengthens enevo’s Building Compliance division at a point when sustainability requirements, carbon reduction targets and evolving regulatory frameworks are increasingly shaping how development projects are planned, funded and delivered across the UK.

Element Sustainability has a strong track record supporting developers, contractors and design teams providing energy and environmental assessment, planning stage reporting, regulatory compliance, and building performance certification.

The team, led by directors Laurie and Caroline Wills, will continue to operate under the Element Sustainability brand, maintaining existing client relationships while now accessing enevo’s national platform and wider technical resources.

Mark Heptonstall, CEO and founder of enevo, said: “Regulatory complexity and environmental performance are defining how projects are delivered.

“Bringing Element Sustainability into enevo strengthens what we can already offer clients, adding specialist depth and capacity to our Building Compliance services and reinforcing our position as a genuinely integrated, technically-led consultancy for built-environment clients.”

Oliver Bentley, managing director at enevo, said: “Every acquisition we make is intentional.  It has to add capability, extend our reach, or ideally both.

“Element Sustainability does exactly that. It strengthens our environmental and compliance offering at a time of growing regulatory demand, establishes enevo in a new geographical area and brings our integrated services closer to clients across the North West while further strengthening the support we provide to our wider UK client base.”

Laurie Wills, director at Element Sustainability, said: ” Joining enevo gives our clients the best of both worlds – the same specialist team and personal service they’re used to, backed by the scale, resources and technical depth of a national consultancy.

“It meaningfully expands what we can deliver, and we’re excited about the opportunities that creates for Element Sustainability’s clients, our team and our business.”

The acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic moves by enevo, which earlier this month acquired Environmental Noise Solutions, a specialist acoustic and noise consultancy based in Doncaster, and JM Partnership in October 2025, strengthening its Registered Building Control capability nationally.

The deals follow enevo’s expansion of its Santander UK funding facility, quadrupling its multimillion-pound revolving credit arrangement to accelerate its buy-and-build strategy across the UK built environment sector.
