Tottenham Hotspur have suffered yet ANOTHER major injury blow, as Xavi Simons left Molineux on a stretcher during Saturday’s Premier League match against Wolves

Xavi Simons suffered a gruesome-looking knee injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, as things go from bad to worse for Tottenham Hotspur. The Dutchman was included in Roberto De Zerbi’s starting XI for the trip to Molineux, but lasted just 63 minutes after seemingly jarring his knee on the turf.
Simons was racing with Hugo Bueno for the ball when his right leg got caught on the pitch, instantly falling to the ground in pain. After medical staff rushed over to treat him, the 23-year-old ultimately left the field on a stretcher, his season now likely over.
Lucas Bergvall was called upon to replace Simons for the rest of the match, as a struggling Spurs chased all three points from their outing with a rock-bottom Wolves side. It comes as yet another major injury worry in an already depleted Lilywhites side.

Guglielmo Vicario is yet to make his return since undergoing hernia surgery late last month, while Dejan Kulusevski is yet to make an appearance for his club this season as a result of a knee injury of his own.
Ben Davies is out for the rest of the season after breaking his ankle against West Ham in January, while Mohammed Kudus continues to recover from a thigh issue. Wilson Odobert, Pape Sarr and Destiny Udogie also missed the trip to the Midlands this weekend.
Elsewhere, Spurs suffered a major injury blow earlier this month when club captain Cristian Romero was forced of the pitch in a 1-0 loss to Sunderland AFC.
The Argentine defender was attempting to shield the ball from Brian Brobbey to allow Antonin Kinsky to make a routine collection, when he was nudged in the back by the opposition striker.

As a result, Romero’s knee collided with the head of Kinsky, leaving both in need of on-field treatment. While Kinsky was able to play on after receiving bandaging to his head, Romero was less fortunate.
The centre-half was immediately substituted off, with the extent of his injury coming to light shortly afterward; a partial ACL tear. As a result, Romero will not only miss the rest of the season with Spurs, but his contention at the World Cup this summer is also up in the air.
It comes as Spurs clinched a vital three points against Wolves on Saturday as they fight against the frosty grip of relegation. The Lilywhites had the opportunity to leapfrog West Ham into 17th with a win at Molineux, dependent on a mirroring result between the Hammers and Everton in East London.
While De Zerbi’s men held up on their side of the deal, Joao Palhinha scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win 82 minutes into the outing, a simultaneous West Ham win saw the standings stay the same.
Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for the Hammers six minutes into the second-half of the match at the London Stadium, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall looked to rain on their parade with just two minutes of normal time left on the clock.
Callum Wilson’s 92nd minute strike ensured that West Ham walked away with a much-needed three points on the day, much to the disappointment of Spurs fans worldwide.
Due to the scorelines, Tottenham Hotspur remain 18th in the Premier League standings, two points adrift of safety with just four games to go.
Up next for the club is a tough trip to Villa Park come Sunday, May 3. Further clashes in May with Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton could then make or break Spurs’ hopes of remaining in the Premier League for the new season.
