An East Devon swimming club is making waves after a record-breaking year.
Exmouth Swimming Club achieved its highest number of qualifiers for the Swim England South West Regional Championships, with 10 young swimmers meeting the tough entry times for the May competitions—more than triple last year’s total.
Mike Dixon, chairman of Exmouth Swimming Club, said: “The club is seeing the results of the hard work from our amazing young swimmers, but also the structure and strength of our coaching team, which includes ex-international swimmers and current paralympic coach volunteers.”
Rob Yardley, lead coach for the competitive squad, said: “We have a great set-up now at Exmouth where we have dedicated coaches with the time and capacity to focus on honing the skills of our most competitive swimmers, whilst also having strong development coaching to ensure we are building our future talent.”
The club’s mission, however, goes beyond competition.
Mike said: “We also ensure the club continues to provide a home for those still learning swimming techniques and all those who want to just enjoy swimming within a club environment.”
Rob added that new members are always welcome.
He said: “Exmouth Swimming Club is a welcoming, inclusive club and we have capacity across the age spectrum for swimmers to join our squads, whether already competing, or with a desire to build towards that goal.”
