Abdul Majid Hakim Elahi was appointed the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India in early April 2025, at a time when the long-standing relationship between India and Iran’s leadership had already been going through a period of diplomatic strain.

In the last two decades, the two countries witnessed both sustained cultural engagement and a series of friction points. Mr. Elahi, however, reaffirms his faith in the centuries-long bond that the countries share.
