GB News was halted for breaking news as it was announced that Princess Eugenie is pregnant with her third child. The Princess, who is married to Jack Brooksbank, is already mother to sons, Ernest and August, and shared a sweet picture of the two boys holding a picture of her scan.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said to Christopher Hope and Miriam Cates: “What fantastic news for Eugenie and the Royal Family. Yes, very, very happy indeed. The new baby will be 15th in line to the throne and joins brother Ernest and also August. Ernest is two and August is five. Yes, so you said they’re 15th in line. I mean, it’s a happy news, I think, for the York family. They’ve been going through a lot, of course, with the issues involving Andrew and Sarah Mountbatten-Windsor. But this is positive news, of oourse, for the whole Royal Family.
“But this is delightful news. The King has said how pleased he is. There’s a charming photograph Eugenie has gone back to Instagram and you can see the ultrasound if you look.”
The conversation then turned to the number of children each member of the royal family have had, as the hosts said: “And the issue of having more children is something I think Prince Harry has talked about this, trying to be responsible, not having more than two children, I think, from memory.”
Fitzwilliam replied: “I think that’s right. Yes, he did say that. It was quite some time ago. He said that this would, for the sake of the planet, I do have to say that Harry occasionally gets subsumed with psychobabble
“Occasionally. But this is really happy news, isn’t it? And great news for the King.”
He added: “He’s now back in the UK, of course, after that. I’ve got to say, it was a triumphant trip last week. I mean, for me, it was the moment when the King emerged from his mother’s shadow, became the King in his own right when he just owned it in the States, didn’t he? Oh, you’re absolutely right.
“This was a tour de force. And he spoke truth to power. And also, it was popular with everybody.”
