Swindon event cancelled due to ‘exceptionally hot weather’

Haydon Wick Parish Council announced its first-ever dog show at Goodearl Dog Park earlier this month.

The event was set to take place on Sunday, May 24 from 1pm to 3pm and include a range of categories including ‘Best Golden Oldie’ for dogs aged 10 years, ‘Best Junior Handler’ for handlers under 15 years, ‘Waggiest Tail/Happiest Dog’, ‘Pup Idol’ for dogs born in 2025, and ‘Best Rescue/Rehome’.

However, amid the hot weather over the bank holiday weekend, the Parish Council has made the decision to cancel the event to ensure the safety of residents and their pets.

A spokesperson for Haydon Wick Parish Council said: “We’re sorry to let you know that the Goodearl Dog Show has been cancelled until further notice.

“As a Parish Council, the health and safety of our residents and their pets will always be our top priority. Due to the exceptionally hot weather, we have taken the decision to cancel tomorrow’s event.

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who offered their time and support—we truly appreciate it. We will look to rearrange the event and share a new date in due course.

“Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe in the heat.”
