A cinema in Cardiff has announced it is closing down at the end of this month. The Vue cinema located at Stadium Plaza, on Wood Street in the city centre is closing in late June, it has been confirmed.
Vue has been operating in the city centre for over 20 years. It first opened in 2005 – taking over the site of the then Ster Century cinema. Vue says they are consulting with their staff members, who say they are concerned at the prospect of redundancy.
A spokesperson for Vue said: “We can confirm that our site at Stadium Plaza will be closing later this month. We are consulting with our Cardiff colleagues, who are our priority, and until this point, we will continue to provide cinemagoers in Cardiff the very best big screen experience.”
An exact day where Vue ceases trading at Stadium Plaza is yet to be confirmed, however the cinema will continue operating as usual until that point.
