Next week’s heatwave will see high temperatures overnight as well as during the daylight hours
When summer rolls around in the UK and the sun shows its face again – especially if we’d had a wet, dreary April and May – it puts a skip in everyone’s step. What we’re not so chuffed about, though, is how hot it can get overnight.
Amber weather warnings are in place for next week, with the Met Office even forecasting the hottest ever recorded June day for this country. Monday and Tuesday (June 22 and 23) are the offending days, with temperatures that could go up to 32C in the late afternoon, but Wednesday and Thursday (June 24 and 25) look set to break the 30C mark as well.
In London, temperatures tend to be a little bit above the rest of the country, thanks to population density and the closeness and numbers of the buildings, so a question on everyone’s lips will be – will we be able to get a good night’s sleep?
Needless to say, the days will be hotter than the nights, but we recommend investing in a powerful fan because temperatures will still be pretty high.
On Monday night, the figure will reach around 24C at about midnight. The coolest it will be will be around 4am, at around 22C.
Tuesday night is a similar story.
