The road has been closed and people are being advised to avoid the area
People have been warned not to leave their homes in Billinge this afternoon (Saturday, June 20) after a suspicious item was found inside a house. Merseyside Police was called to Larch Close in Billinge around 2.15pm after a suspected unexploded bomb was found inside the house, while it was being cleaned.
As a precaution, Larch Close has been closed and residents in the area have been warned to stay indoors. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called to assess the device, police said.
EOD later confirmed the device is “no further threat to the public” after it was assessed. Police confirmed the scene has now been stood down.
Motorists and pedestrians were advised to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the incident.
