Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 5” scored the best opening weekend of the year so far at the domestic box office, according to early numbers reported by the Hollywood trade publications, grossing an estimated $160 million at North American theaters to set a “Toy Story” franchise record.

The domestic gross of “Toy Story 5” put it almost $40 million ahead of the last “Toy Story” installment’s opening weekend—“Toy Story 4,” which grossed $120.9 million in 2019.
It’s also the second-biggest opening weekend for a Pixar film in history, behind only the $182.6 million debut for “The Incredibles 2” in 2018.
The new installment was also a massive hit globally, grossing another estimated $152 million in international markets for a grand total of $312 million overall.
It also easily surpassed the previous biggest opening of 2026—Universal’s “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” which grossed $131.7 million at domestic theaters when it opened in April.

Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” came in second place over the weekend, which included Father’s Day and also a federal holiday on Friday for Juneteenth, grossing about $17.2 million for a 61% decline since its debut last weekend. The two big indie horror hits that have been breaking records over the past few weeks came in third and fourth. “Obsession” grossed another $14.2 million, while “Backrooms” grossed $7.5 million. “Obsession” has now grossed $305 million globally on a reported budget of just $750,000, even though it finally ended its run of outperforming its opening weekend gross of $17.1 million.

That was the total box office gross for the last weekend, Deadline reported—the best three-day stretch of 2026 so far, surpassing the $219.5 million in box office sales over Easter weekend (after the premier for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”) and $216.2 million over Memorial Day weekend.
