Newmarket Holidays has recorded a 45% year-on-year surge in trade bookings for India following the conclusion of its first ‘mega-fam’ to the destination.
The operator revealed that year-to-date trade sales for India have also grown by 13% and continue to accelerate, matching the post-trip momentum.
The mega-fam, which took place from May 3 to May 12, was the largest trade group Newmarket Holidays has ever hosted in India, with 45 travel agents and company representatives.
Over the 10-day trip, agents were split across four simultaneous itineraries designed to showcase the depth of the operator’s 22-strong India portfolio.
The groups covered various regions, including the Golden Triangle and Ranthambhore, Amritsar and the Himalayas, Rajasthan, and wildlife safaris across central India.

Six of the itineraries featured belong to Newmarket’s Tour Plus Collection, which incorporates river cruises, ocean cruises or extended pre and post-tour stays.
The operator attributed the spike in sales to a “halo effect”, noting that agents who did not attend the fam trip were still positively influenced by live social media coverage, real-time itinerary updates and feedback from returning colleagues.
Hayley Morris, head of trade sales and partnerships at Newmarket Holidays, said: “The results from our first mega-fam speak for themselves. When agents experience a trip first-hand or see others on the trip and hear positive feedback, they sell it with a conviction you simply can’t replicate with a briefing.
“A 45% year-on-year uplift in India bookings is a strong return, and it gives us real confidence in the value of investing in fam travel at scale.”
