Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released the Group 1 Notification 2026 for the Combined Civil Services Examination-I on its official website. The notification was issued on June 23, 2026, for recruitment to various Group 1 posts, including Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes), Assistant Director of Rural Development, District Employment Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Labour.The TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be held on September 6, 2026. Candidates interested in joining Tamil Nadu’s administrative services can apply online through the official website.According to the notification, online registration will begin on June 30, 2026, and the last date to submit applications and pay the fee is July 29, 2026. The commission has not yet announced the number of vacancies.The recruitment process will be conducted in three stages- Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview. Candidates must qualify each stage to move to the next round. The final selection will be based on performance in the Main Examination and Interview.Candidates applying for the examination must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Some posts have additional preference criteria based on educational qualifications and experience.The minimum age to apply is 21 years. The upper age limit varies depending on the post and category. For most posts, the maximum age is 34 years for candidates in the general category and 39 years for reserved category candidates. Age relaxations will be applicable as per TNPSC rules.For the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police and District Officer (Fire and Rescue Services), candidates must also meet prescribed physical standards related to height, chest measurement and weight.The application fee includes a one-time registration fee of Rs 150, valid for five years. Candidates must also pay Rs 100 for the Preliminary Examination and Rs 200 for the Main Examination. Certain categories, including SC, SC(A), ST, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and Destitute Widows, are exempt from paying examination fees.The Preliminary Examination will consist of 200 objective-type questions carrying 300 marks and will be conducted for three hours. Candidates who qualify the preliminary stage will appear for the Main Examination, which includes a Tamil Eligibility Test and three General Studies papers. The recruitment process will conclude with an interview carrying 100 marks.Selected candidates will be placed under Pay Level 22 and will receive a salary ranging from Rs 56,100 to Rs 2,05,700, along with other government allowances and benefits.
