ICAC challenges organic cotton’s core claims


WASHINGTON DC – Organic cotton output has grown nearly sixfold in a decade, but an authoritative new report from the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) warns the sector must move beyond ideology and confront hard evidence if it is to remain credible.

For sourcing executives and mill operators, the report offers a timely reality check on the risks of over-reliance on organic certification as a singular sustainability signal – and a pointer towards more outcome-focused procurement criteria.
